In finding the WHY of what I do I would have to say it is to empower parents – mums in particular or indeed the primary caregiver of a new baby.
When I became a mum I was the only one of my peers to have a baby – they didn’t get it and before I had children I didn’t get it either – I was blissfully unaware of the challenges faced by new parents and how they can and should be supported. But with knowledge, experience and dare I say age comes empowerment and a passion for change.
A solitary fancy can transform a million realities – Maya Angelou
With the knowledge and skills that I now have, I hope to inspire others and help to break down stereotypes and stigmas and let’s face it massive amounts of misinformation and lack of education.
My new skills have given me a beautiful purpose in the most unlikely of places and so I have chosen to pursue this new direction in life with open arms and hope that many will join me.
At the core of what I do is making families more connected, happier, healthier – I can give parents the tools to make them feel good about having a new baby because becoming a parent for the first time is overwhelming, sometimes stressful and scary – there are many new skills to learn and we often doubt our own instincts and intuition. We buy ‘expert’ books, listen to well meaning friends and relatives, follow routines, latest trends and tie ourselves in knots.
I can help you through all of that with postpartum doula support, breastfeeding/bottle feeding support and the skills to confidently wear your baby in a sling.
Bear and Bundle is a safe and secure place offering support to all new parents regardless of their choices.
