A sling library or meet offers you the opportunity to try out a sling before you buy which is actually really important when it comes to carriers and something many people just don’t know. A sling is not a one size fits all, bodies come in all shapes and sizes with varying levels of fitness or health issues. A carrier needs to fit in with your lifestyle and you have to want to use it and your baby needs to be happy in it. What worked for your friend might not work for you.
I see it happen time and time again that someone sees a beautiful sling online that everyone is talking about – the newest release in a fab new print and they buy it and then just don’t get on with it. Or someone comes to a sling meet wanting to try out a particular sling and they end up leaving with something completely different – it has happened to me too.
Some people might love a particular carrier for front carries but hate it for back carries. So where you might have wondered why you would hire a sling maybe now you can see that it is a great and inexpensive way to road-test a particular carrier before you make the investment.
I have quite a few carriers in stock at the moment and try to get new ones as often as I can. I run a sling meet once per month in Drogheda, keep your eyes on my facebook page for details!
The cost of a sling hire is €5 per week, or €15 per month. If you book a consultation or workshop with me you can have a sling hire for €10, I do charge for a mid-hire swap as the sling is returned for washing and a new sling provided.
Deposits for sling hire:
I am currently trialling a no deposit required arrangement on sling hire because even though the deposit is refundable on return it might be difficult for families to come up with the deposit in the first place as well as the hire fees. The whole aim of the library is to enable families to carry their babies safely so I would like to trial a no deposit arrangement and trusting good people to a) look after the slings and b) replace any lost or damaged slings.

Lost or damaged carriers:
For me to replace a lost or damaged carrier is costly so by hiring out my slings you agree to the full replacement of any lost or damaged carriers or accessories. T&C’s to be included here.
